CID Begins Investigation Into Death Threats On Manasseh After De-Eye Group Exposé

The Criminal Investigative Department has begun an investigation into death threat on Multimedia journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni.

Manasseh’s investigation exposed a group called De- Eye which he claimed are a militia group being trained by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) currently in power.

The investigations seem to have stepped on the toes of some individuals who are now threatening the award-winning journalist.

Multimedia says they have given information gathered on the issue to the CID and they disclosed that they have already gathered intelligence on the threats and are following up to access the seriousness of the threats.

The investigation by Manasseh seem to have divided opinion in Ghana, the government said the documentary was misleading, Executive Director of Irbard Security Consult, Irbard Ibrahim also claims Manasseh Azure Awuni caused fear and panic and further dragged the integrity of the state into disrepute with his documentary and thus, must be arrested and prosecuted.

Some Ghanaians have also commended his work and the latest to do so is the President of the Ghana Journalist Association Affail Monney who believes Manasseh did a great job.

“I think Manasseh deserves commendation for having the courage to come out with this piece, look at the backlash coming in, you need a tougher skin and he has done well”
