Farmer Arrested For Attempting To Sell Auto Mechanic Apprentice

An Assin Adiembra-based farmer is currently in the grips of the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command for attempting to sell a 21-year-old auto mechanic apprentice in Assin Fosu.

The suspect, Patrick Arthur 21, was selling the apprentice, Kwadwo Peprah to a police officer who posed as a fetish priest and needed a human being for rituals.

The Assin Fosu Divisional police commander, Chief Supt. Henry B. M. Bacho told Adom News that the police had a tip-off from a civilian who detailed the involvement of the suspect Patrick Arthur in such an illegal business upon which the police put a surveillance on him.

During the police surveillance period, a police CID posed as a fetish priest who needed a human being to buy for rituals and in the process, contacted the suspect Patrick Arthur who is alleged to have been in the trading of human beings for so many years.

The suspect allegedly promised to sell out his bosom friend to the priest if only he could pay Ghc300,000 (¢3 billion).

The police officer who pleaded for reduction settled to pay Ghc200,000 (¢2 billion) as the final price if the deal is finally executed.

The suspect then lured the victim, Kwadwo Peprah, to accompany him to visit a friend at Assin Dawomako of which he complied.

The suspect and two other colleagues including the victim, Kwadwo Peprah whom he intended to sell, met the supposed fetish priest at Assin Dawomako cemetery where both parties agreed to meet.

A team of police officers who were already poised for action in the cemetery arrested the suspect including the car and the victim but the two other colleagues of the suspect managed to escape.

The victim has been released while the suspect has since been in police custody assisting in investigations.
