Grounds Are Prepared For The 34th Farmers’ Day Celebration – PRO

The 34th edition of the National Farmers’ Day Celebration this year would be celebrated in a grand Star which would span through week at the Aliu Mahama Sport stadium in the Northern region, Tamale, Starting from 29th November to 7th December 2018, the PRO of  Ministry of Food and Agriculture, MoFA has hinted adding that the ground is highly prepared and ready to host the Program.

 

The theme for this Year’s Celebration is; “Agriculture, moving Ghana beyond Aid”.

 

Speaking to Radio1News, the Public Relation Officer, Bagbara Tanko said this year’s farmers day is going to be a fair where farmers will be interacting with industry players and experts on technological advance in order to create the network between the two partners. He said there will be an exhibition where institutions and individuals will show case and share new ideas.

 

He said the purpose of this Agriculture fair on the farmers day is to improve in the sector and also to show to the whole world what Ghanaians have and can do in the field of Agriculture.

 

According to him, the vice president of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Dr Alhaji Bawumia will on the 30th  of November be present to Open the Celebration to kick start  the ceremony.

However, Mr. Tanko said the stakeholders involved in the Organisation are yet to deliberate on the prize for the farmer who will emerges as winner in this year. He said the Prize has always been reviewed to suit the needs and wanys of the winner so this year woildn’t be an exception. The major Sponsor of the annual program has been the Agriculture Development Bank, Heaven Bank ADB, Partnered by Stanbic Bank etc.

The National Farmers Day is commemorated each year on the first Friday of the December to honour our gallant farmers. The event acknowledges the vital roles these farmers play in the Nation social-economic development.

Prizes are awarded to deserving farmers in order of best practice and outputs.

Mr. Tanko finally urged cooperate institutions to support the government in order to motivate our farmers which will boost their morales and the upcoming youth with the edge to engage in farming to ensure the continuity of  producing food for the country.
