I Couldn’t Have Helped Tawiah, JOWAK Or Ahiable – Mavis Ama Frimpong

The Former Eastern Regional Minister under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama-led NDC administration, Mrs Mavis Ama Frimpong who was the Chairperson of the Election Committee in the just ended Regional Congress in the Eastern Region, has debunked the speculations that she was a catalyst to ‘Operation Tawiah Boateng must lose’ campaign and added that she could have done anything possible within her limits to help Tawiah Boateng win the Election if she were in a capacity, rather than truncating his potentials, Wisdom and Aspirations.

She said if she had anything under her sleeves as being purported, the Former Eastern Regional Chairman on the ticket of the Opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, Mr Bismark Tawiah Boateng who lost the election wouldn’t have appointed her as the Chairperson of the Election Committee to instigate against him.

In a phone interview on the Susubiribi Morning Show on Radio 1 FM, (100.7MHZ,) on Tuesday 4 September 2018,  the former Minister and stalwart of the NDC,  said as a Chairperson of the Election Committee, she had to act as a referee, and she diligently executed her mandate without any cause of favouritism and partiality but resorted to Objectivity, Transparency, Fair to promote Equity. Therefore could not have helped Tawiah Boateng, JOWAK or Ahiable as well as sabotaging any of them.

According to her, Ghanaians acknowledge her as a woman of integrity,  who cannot be swayed in any form to distort opinions, so never did she as an individual or team, directly or indirectly or whatsoever form, contributed to Tawiah Boateng’s defeat.

This follows an accusations from Mr Tawiah Boateng that Mrs Mavis Ama Frimpong, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Former Ambassador to UK, Victor Smith led a campaign of operation Tawiah Boateng must lose.

“I will not blame anybody for my defeat but it is instructive to note that all former appointees gag up against Tawiah Boateng. All of them including Ofosu Ampofo, Victor Smith, Mrs Mavis Ama Frimpong and others embarked on operation remove Tawiah Boateng and bring JOWAK. They met all former MMDCE’s and even called one founding member, Alhaji Abu…  They even forced one contestant, Basil Ahiable to step down. They sat him down and tried to convince him to step down for JOWAK. They promised to pay him GHS 130,000 but he refused it. All these contributed to the delay in conducting the regional elections”, Tawiah alleged.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo had Early on debunked the accusations and entreated all especially NDC members to forgo the accusations and focus on building the NDC party to recapture power in election 2020. Mrs Mavis Ama Frimpong also re-echoed Ofosu Ampofo’s voice and urged all Party supported and sympathisers to focus on capturing power from the NPP.
