VOTE OFOSU AMPOFO AS NATIONAL CHAIRMAN

I Never Orchestrated Tawiah Boateng’s Exit – Ofosu Ampofo

The first National Vice Chairman of the major opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo who doubles as the Director of Elections of same Party and now vying for the National Chairman of NDC in October this year has debunked the speculations that he, Ofosu Ampofo together with other two key personalities in the Mahama led NDC administration, teamed up to show Tawiah Boateng’s Exit in the just ended NDC’s Eastern Regional elections.

He claimed there has never been an attempt before and during the election to pull down his potentials because Tawiah Boateng is a big asset to the Democratic Party.

In an exclusive interview with Radio 1 News, Hon. Ofosu Ampofo said prior to the Regional Elections he openly made everyone aware that because he has already declared his intention to run for the National Chairmanship race, he has no preferences and pledged not to involve in anything that might directly or indirectly promote one over the other, thus; one having upper hand over the other.

This follows a release where Mr Tawiah Boateng, the immediate past Eastern Regional NDC Chairman accused Mr Ofosu Ampofo, Ambassador Victor Smith and Mrs Mavis Ama Frimpong of orchestrating his lost in the bid for the regional chairman last Saturday.

“I will not blame anybody for my defeat but it is instructive to note that all former appointees gag up against Tawiah Boateng. All of them including Ofosu Ampofo, Victor Smith and others embarked on operation remove Tawiah Boateng and bring JOWAK. They met all former MMDCEs and even called one Founding Member of the party, Alhaji Abu, who urged them to vote massively for JOWAK. They did all these machinations and even forced one contestant, Basil Ahiable to step down. They sat him down and tried to convince him to step down for JOWAK. They promised to pay him (Basil Ahiable) GHS130, 000 (¢1.3 billion old cedis) but he refused it. All these contributed to the delay in conducting the regional elections”, he noted.

John Owusu Amankrah, popularly known as JOWAK polled 373 votes to take over the regional chairmanship position which he has occupied before, Tawiah Boateng garnered 281 votes and Basil Ahiable got 241 votes.

Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo denied the accusations and urged all NDC members and sympathizers to regard it as palpable fabrications to dent his image but rather advised Mr Tawiah Boateng to bury the differences, let bygones be bygones and help build the Eastern region NDC to recapture Power in Election 2020.
