NDC Hawks Clash with Agbogbloshie Boys

A group of ‘thugs’ believed to be coming from Agbogbloshie Market area in Accra, yesterday, clashed with macho-men supposedly in charge of security at the headquarters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) resulting in some injuries.

The Agbogbloshie ‘thugs’ attempted to force their way into the premises of the party’s headquarters at Adabraka, Accra, when scores of people accompanied some party gurus to present former President Mahama’s letter of intent to lead the party in the 2020 elections.

But the machomen; a well-built muscular men, believed to be members of ‘The Hawk’, the team that was unveiled in Kumasi during the NDC Unity Walk in May, prevented them from entering.

Mahama’s letter was presented to NDC General-Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, on his behalf by the former Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman, Daniel Ohene Agyekum.

Many former ministers, MP and appointees who served under Mr. Mahama were there to assist Dr. Ohene Agyekum to make the presentation.

Matters came to a head when ‘The Hawks’ indicated that the premises was full hence would no more allow anyone entry for security reasons.

The Agbogbloshie boys who apparently became incensed by the suggestion resisted the order and tried to force their way into the conference hall but ‘The Hawks’ stood their grounds.

In the ensuing scuffle, one of the machomen got injured.

Later, some of the Agbogbloshie guys disclosed to DAILY GUIDE that they felt upset by the decision to deny them entry into the party’s conference hall saying they were all members of the party and should be given equal treatments.

They claimed they had on countless occasions put their lives on the line for the party; the latest being at Akwatia where members of the “so-called” hawks fled but they stood their grounds to finish off a fight against “opposing elements”.

The press conference was characterized by incessant chants and cat-calls from party fanatics who were expressing their joy that the former President was contesting again.
