Okudzeto’s Allegations Are Neither Here Nor There – Eastern Regional Minister

The Eastern regional Minister who doubles as the member of parliament for Nkawkaw Constituency and also a member of the parliamentary select committee on foreign affairs has revealed that the numerous allegations level led against the ministry with regards to the controversies surrounding the Ghanan embassy in Norway are neither here nor there.

According to him, these allegations are fabricated lies and cannot be substantiated which he thinks doesn’t hold water.

In a phone interview on the Susubiribi morning show on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, he told the Host, Captain Kofi Wusu that the minority spokesperson on foreign affairs, hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa goofed in his allegations.

He revealed this when the host asked him on the opinion on the incidence that occurred in Parliament where a leak video captures the foreign minister hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey in a heated argument with the minority spokesperson on foreign affairs and when the foreign minister lost control of herself she attempted to slap a colleague member of Parliament, the MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam George.

However, the Eastern Regional minister believes even if Okudzeto has allegations, there are processes to channel them and also provide concrete evidence to buttress the allegations.

Okudzeto Ablakwa is claiming that government purchased a building in Norway at $12 million for use as an embassy.

However, after documents presented by Mr Ablakwa to Parliament were rejected by the Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Ocquaye, as unreliable, the livid Foreign Affairs Minister confronted the NDC MP outside the Parliament’s chambers.

Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, who is also MP for Anyaa-Sowutuom, could be seen in the video screaming her defence of the alleged purchase to the opposition NDC MP.

But the ministry has released a statement to rebut theallegations and that they have not yet purchased any building contrary to theclaims.
