Rawlings’ Comments Unfortunate, Will Adversely Affect NDC – Political Science Lecturer

A Political Science Lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science and Technology, KNUST, Dr. Abass Mohammed has said, the statement made by the former president and founder of the National Democratic Congress NDC, Jerry John Rawlings will go long way to affect the politics within the party because he believes  former Prez Rawlings has his own core members in the party who he influences.

He said, even though Rawlings has the right to express his views on matters in the party but he should have given reasons to his statement, unless he is saying this for his own personal interest.

Dr. Abass gave this take on the statement on Radio1 100.7HMZ, susubiribi morning show today 17 october,2018, when the host, captain Kofi Owusu asked him of the impact of the statement on the party as a political lecturer.

However he said, is the prerogative of the flagbearer to choose his own running mate whom he thinks he can work with but also in consultation with party leaders.

Former president, Jerry John Rwaings launched a blistering campaign against an alleged plan to make one of the Ahwoi family a running mate to Mahama.  He made the highly suggestive statement in a tweet on Monday afternoon, 15 October 2018.

“Isn’t the Presidency too busy a place for hopefuls/running mates who spend a little too much time grooming their moustache and dyeing their hair?” Rawlings tweeted.
