The Minister of Roads and Highway, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, has ordered the immediate re-assignment of the Manager in-charge of Road Tolls in the country, Emmanuel Spencer-Baah.
The Minister revealed this at the ongoing retreat for the Board and Management of the Ghana Highway Authority.
According to Mr. Amoako Atta the country loses 40-80% of the revenue generated through toll levies as a result of poor management of the toll booths dotted across the country.
“… the Manager for toll booth should be removed and re-assigned immediately. I’ll set up a committee next week to carry out investigations into how the recruitment exercise was carried out”
He’s also announced a likely increment in road tolls soon following a Cabinet memo requesting an increase in the tolls to improve cash flows into the Road Fund.
