Playwright, author and Chief Executive Officer of Roverman Productions, James Ebo Whyte, says Ghanaians must stop leading people into politics.

In an interview with KMJ on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, he stated the presidency is not just about one person.

“I think we all have roles to play, there are people who we push to become president but have no business becoming a president. There are many ways to contribute to national development, I do not understand why everybody wants to go into politics in Ghana,” he said.

“One of the reasons why we get the solution in Ghana is because we do not understand that the presidency is not about one person. A president is as good as the people around him so a lot of the things that happen and makes us disappointed in the president quite often has to do with people around him,” he added.

Uncle Ebo also disagrees with the Nigerian government’s decision to ban movies shots abroad and thinks they are misguided therefore should allow the artiste to move freely.

“The artiste belongs to the world, if you put any limitations on the artiste then you don’t understand what you are doing, they should let the artiste feel free to move and to go where ever they think they will be able to give their best expression.

“The lives of Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Samini, Stonebwoy and all of them…yes…they are Ghanaians but they are of the world. They were raised for our generation but for the whole world so if we do not see it in that respect then we don’t understand what life is all about,” he said.

According to him, “the whole Nigerian industry got richer because of the collaboration with Ghanaians; Nollywood is getting bigger because it is been received outside.”

“If everybody says let us draw lines for the influx of artistic and creative products, where will they be?” Mr Whyte queried.
