We Will Ensure Mercury Free Mining – REMWOF

The Operations Director of the Retired Mine Workers Foundation, REMWOF, Mr. Kwame Amo Asiedu has revealed that if all things be equal, when granted permission to go back to mining, REMWOF will ensure mercury Free mining and instill sanity in the small scale mining Sector.

He made this known on Radio1 fm, 100.7 on Tuesday,16th October 2018 on “Our land our future”, when he was asked about their intention to mine when the activities of mining over the decades have caused more harm and deteriorating our environmental bodies especially our water bodies due to the use of mercury and cyanide.

According to Kwame Amo Asiedu, REMWOF will engage in co-operative mining and that will instill sanity in the mining sector.

He said the various co-operatives REMWOF will introduce include the Planting Cooperative, Reclamation Cooperative, Entrepreneurship Cooperative, and Mining Cooperatives which are measures to improve the sanity of the Small Scale Mining Sector and also provide jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in our societies.

Government has hinted that hopefully, before the year ends, the ban on Mining in the Country will be lifted to pave way for the miners to go back to work in other to make ends meet.
