Ghana Beyond Aid Does Not Mean Ghana Will Not Borrow – Road Minister

The Road minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Atiwa West constituency, Hon. Kwame Amoako Atta has disclosed that Ghana beyond aid does not really mean Ghana will not borrow as being purported by the minority and other saboteurs.

“Ghana beyond aid does not mean that Ghana will not take aid or Ghana will not secure loan when necessary. The Government has not said it anywhere that securing loan or aid is not important. We are living in a world of inter dependence and every country needs the help of its fellow country. There is no country without public debt, even the most powerful countries in the world that we know of, the  likes of United States, Britain, Germany, France, Japan, and China all go for aid”, he remarked as he spoke on the theme: Agriculture, Moving Ghana Beyond Aid at the farmers Day celebration in Bomaa in his constituency.

Speaking at this year’s Famer’s Day edition organized on Friday 7th December, 2018 which was graced by the chiefs, farmers, natives,  and other dignitaries in the Atiwa West District in the Eastern Region to mark the 34th National Farmer’s Day Celebration at Akyem Bomaa on the theme “Agriculture; Moving Ghana Beyond Aid”.

He explained that the aid is securing loan or assistance from foreign countries or donors to help develop a country and Hon Amoako Atta added that the motive is that the President, Nana AKuffo Addo wants the country’s resources to be well managed which will generate income for the country and this will draw back the country from securing loans as well as seeking for aid to make Ghana a dependable country in some years to come.

Hon. Amoako Attah stated that because much attention was not given to the Agric sector and less was invested in the previous years, the growth in this sector diminished and the country was recording negative income.

He said currently the Agric Sector is recovering massively and recording growth therefore achieving positive figures from about 17% to 20%. Hon. Amoako Atta added that Ghana will secure loan or seek for aid when necessary.
