There has been clarion call for flag bearers, leaders and members the two main political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) to affirm absolute commitment to peaceful elections before, during and after the December 7 elections.
This was contained in a petition presented to the parties during a peace walk embarked on by hundreds of women through the principal streets of Koforidua.
It was organized under the auspices of Women Situation Room – Ghana (WSR-GH). They carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘peace is in your hands’, ‘don’t vote violence’, ‘we have no where to go’, ‘Ghana is all we have’, ‘thumb not fist’ among others.
Addressing the women, the Eastern Regional Coordinator of WSR-GH, Lucy Anim said democracy is not war. She also said women and children are vulnerable and the worst affected when there is war.

She therefore implored politicians to abate casting of innuendos, verbal altercation and intemperate language to enhance peace.
Mrs Anim urged the EC Boss to stand firm in her endeavours to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.
The Suhumhemaa Nana Yaa Sekyibea admonished the women to impress upon their wards to be law abiding and not to allow themselves to be hoodwinked by politicians into creating or fomenting troubles.
