The commission said  this in a statement on Monday, 7 November, stating that by the judgement of the apex court, they “are to declare the candidates so nominated [after correction of errors] to contest the 2016 elections by close of Wednesday, 9 November 2016.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has therefore announced November 10, 2016 for presidential balloting.

This follows the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the EC’s suit challenging the High court ruling asking them to allow the PPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Nduom to correct errors on his nomination forms.

A Seven-member panel presided over by Justice Sophia Adinyira on the Monday ordered the commission to extend the nomination period to November 8, and allow the candidates to correct their mistakes in order to contest the polls.

The court also in its ruling ordered the discontinuation of the various court cases regarding the disqualification of other presidential aspirants.
