Ho Central Market Shop Owners Association (HCMSOA) in the Volta Region are pleading with the government to speed up the completion of the new Ho central market.

According to the President of the association, Isaac Deamesi, unlike Kejetia and Cape-Coast markets where the traders were provided some temporal shops, they in Ho were allocated a football park where they individually financed to put up structures in order to await the new Project respectively.

However, the project seems to have stalled which he said is affecting their business.

“Our feud is about the completion and allocation of the shops…as the previous market was demolished we were not recognized as the main stakeholders. We even requested to be part of the project committee and no attention was paid to us…” Mr. Deamesi told Adomonline’s Gershon Mortey.

Mr. Deamesi also revealed that, some faceless people have been allocated shops whiles old members have been ignored totally even though the project hasn’t been completed yet.

“The uncompleted shops have been allocated to some faceless people, unlike the intended shop owners who were present before the new project came in. With Cape-Coast and Kejetia, temporary shops were created to host the shop’s owners for the time being but nothing of that sort was done here. No compensation…” the president added.

The traders are calling on the government to come to their aid in this adverse weather condition to fully complete the project so that they can have access to their shops to boost the trade.

“When it rains, we can’t cope where we are now. We feel too hot due to the adverse weather conditions. Trade is very bad lately. Less profit are been made since we were taken out of the building. We don’t even know when it will be inaugurated. We plead with the government to come to our aid to complete the project for us…” some traders said.
