President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has refuted claims that he condones the activities of brute security group named the invincible forces.
The group have been ‘terrorizing’ known NDC supporters and members after the NPP took up the reign of power.
President Akufo-Addo whilst delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament told the house he did not and will not support the activities of the group well known to be operating under the umbrella of the NPP.
“Mr Speaker, certain instances occurred during the transition period which are matters of concern to me and should be to every Ghanaian. Wrongdoing has no political colour and I do not subscribe to the lawlessness of political party supporters simply because their party has been elected into office,” he stated.

“Mr Speaker, when those incidences began, I instructed the then Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor, to apply the law irrespective of political affiliation to all law breakers. This instruction was also carried on to his successor David Asante-Apeatu to act upon it to bring such situation under control,” he said.
Article 67 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution requires that: “The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before the dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation,” which he fulfilled in today’s appearance.
Akufo-Addo, who assumed office on January 7, 2017 is Ghana’s fifth president of the Fourth Republic.
