It is regrettable that some irate youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday 16 March attacked the Eastern regional executives of the party at a meeting involving them and the Kwesi Botchwey committee investigating the causes of the party’s defeat in last year’s presidential and parliamentary elections, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, Director of Elections of the NDC, has said.
The disgruntled youth, who blame the regional leadership for the electoral loss, wanted them out of the meeting, to enable them vent their frustrations to the fact-finding committee.
However, speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom, on Accra100.5FM on Friday 17 March, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said: “The situation was unfortunate.
“We understand their frustration and anxiety but they should be patient with the fact-finding team because the committee presents an opportunity to bring every issue out for the party to address them.

“I will not encourage this situation, the committee is made up of very respected international figures – Kwesi Botchwey, Hon Doe Adjaho, and others – and so let us give them the respect to do their work.”
Meanhwile, one Yahooza, the leader of NDC serial callers in the Eastern Region, has said some executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) deliberately orchestrated the party’s massive defeat.
According to him, the executives pocketed monies that were sent to the various regions, thereby starving the grassroots of the then governing party, resulting in the defeat.
“Most of them pocketed monies that were sent from the national headquarters to the regions and constituency branches. Today, they have built huge mansions and bought expensive cars for themselves, and the grassroots, especially the serial callers, are struggling. How do they expect us to call into radio programmes to defend the NDC?”
