The NDC Constituency Chairman for Lower Manya Krobo, David Walter Hormenu has debunked the rumour that he slapped a supporter of the party during the sitting of the Prof. Kwesi Botwe led fact-finding committee established by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to unravel the cause of the party’s heavy defeat in the 2016 general elections at Somanya.

While the committee’s sitting was in progress, an irate youth purported to be supporters of the former Member of Parliament for the area, Michael Teye Nyaunu stormed the venue and nearly brought the meeting to an abrupt end.

In his response to the allegation, Chairman Walter told Owuraku Asamoah, the host of ‘The Issues’ on Radio1 that he never slapped any party member during the meeting.

“The allegation is absolutely false, I did not slap anybody, besides my hands are short, not long enough to slap” he said.

In answering a question from the host, he said he saw some supporters of Teye Nyaunu during the party’s parliamentary primaries in 2015 being the ring leaders but in a rebuttal, Hon. Teye Nyaunu said although there were some hooligans who came to the meeting venue, he denied that those disgruntled youths were his supporters adding, ‘it was Hon Okletey Tey Larbi who moved from his seat to attack me at the meeting but I was calm’.

Chairman Walter confirmed that the sitting Member of Parliament, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi is not in good terms with the former MP, Teye Nyaunu which the party is set to settle.

A heavy security was deployed by the Somanya Police Command to bring the situation under control after making fifteen arrests.
