About a week ago, Radio 1 news reporter, Oppong Kyekyeku visited some galamsey sites at Akyem Ankaase and on his visit; the people complained of a galamsey site which has been left uncovered and everyone in the community points at Asanka.

But, in an interview with ”Asanka” by R1 News, he indicated that, his hands are clean over the allegation and that he is not the one responsible for the uncovered pits.

He stated that the issue of galamsey has been an age long problem with successive government finding it very difficult to fight it but the chiefs can do something about the situation by ensuring that all operators show them their work permit before their operations and also ensure that they cover their pits and reclaim their lands.
