Salisu Kum, Chairman of the Delta Force, a private security arm within the New Patriotic Party, has apologised to Ghanaians, especially the judiciary and the president, over Thursday’s events at a Kumasi Circuit court involving members of the vigilante group.

Apart from whisking away their colleagues, the Delta Force members also vandalised court property and almost assaulted the judge in the process.

Only two police officers were on duty at the court, one of them being a pregnant officer. They managed to whisk the judge into her chambers for safety.

The 13 were on trial for assaulting the Ashanti regional security coordinator, George Agyei, who they said could not be allowed to serve in that capacity given he was not native to the region and did not help in the campaign towards the NPP’s victory in 2016.

But speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yenom on Accra 100.5FM on Friday, Salisu Kum said: “What happened was unfortunate and I condemn that action. We are begging all Ghanaians, we are begging the President.

“Let me add that those who did that were not members of the Delta Force but friends of the accused persons. However, that action is wrong, I condemn it and we apologise to all Ghanaians, the president, the court.”
