NDC to demonstrate against Bauxite activities at Atiwa Forest

Information reaching Radio 1 indicates that, Atiwa Forest in the Eastern region and other side of Kyebi land was used as a collateral for the 15billion US dollars Chinese loan because the Atiwa Forest would serve as a Bauxite zone which will generate income for the development of the nation.

According to source, Nana Akufo- Addo in his 2016 campaign said, the Atiwa Forest at Kyebi in the Eastern region would be serve as a Bauxite zone.

But speaking on Radio 1 evening show dubbed ‘’Bekyerem’’ with host Owuraku Asamoah, Mr. Alkins Ofori, member of the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC communication team in the Abuakwa south constituency in the Eastern region vowed to lead a demostration against government decision on Atiwa Forest.

‘’ I Alkins will lead a crusade against this Bauxite activities on the Akyem land, because it is the NDC government, that have been able to develop Akyem communities,example like Kyebi Hospital and other developmental project so we won’t sit down and watch them destroyed our resources and what we have suffered for.’’ he stressed.

Also communication member of the ruling New Patriotic Party NPP in the Abuakwa North constituency in the Eastern region, Nana Ofosu Asante Twum on the programme lamented that, the NDC’s are hippocrates and if they got something to do why couldn’t they stop illegal mining.

‘’Did you know why in the Bible Jesus christ refers some people as hippocrates, over eight years now galamsey have been destroying our water bodies, he is here today beening NDC man, knowing very well that he have the capacity to lead a crusade against something, why couldn’t  he do that against galamsey.’’ he asked.

Some serial callers who also contributed to the programme also expressed their discomfort with government decision on Atiwa Forest. According to them they don’t want such activities to take place in the Atiwa Forest, because it would affect their livilihood and their generation as well.
