Residents of Pesiator, a village close to Akyem Begoro, Fanteakwa District in the Eastern Region lacks social amenities such as Schools, Electricity, Water, hospitals etc, and are crying for government to come to their aid.

According  to the spokesperson for the Chief of the village, Mr. James Tettey, the people of the community have to travel miles away for medication when there is an emergency, and very hard to get a car due to the poor nature of the road, they sometimes lose the victim on the way or sometimes a few minutes to the hospital and this is heartbreaking , especially their women go through a lot of problems during labour.

Speaking to Radio 1 news, about the school, Mr. James said, they have some sought of wooden structure which they use for classes but its only from class one(1) to class five(5). And even some classes are joined together,” example class four(4)  and five(5)” share the same classroom, learning the same subjects together as one class which is very bad.” he lamented.

He also said due to the structure of the school building ,its creates shelter for some poisonous animals to live in especially snakes and scorpions, which is so harmful to the students. Also due to the level of the school, the children have to go and stay with their relatives in the cities to continue their education from class six (6).

Some of the children too have to walk miles away to the nearest village to continue their education  which is not helping them, some too who can’t take the risk stays home as class five graduates them.

Finally, he added that the people of the village have been in the support of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) for ages because they promised to help them, but disappointed them on many occassions, so they all made up their mind to support the New Patriotic Party(NPP) during the 2016 election so therefore,   he appeals to the member of parliament and the current government to help build a better school and hospital in order to improve education in the community.
