The Krontihene of Abekoase in the Atiwa district of the Eastern region, Nana Osei Baah has described the 1992 constitution as not favoring Ghanaians and needs to be amended.
According to him, why should the constitution allows President, Ministers or Members of Parliament to be entitle to everything freely in terms of cars, house, utility bills, fuel etc, after been paid with a huge some of amount every month with tax payers money.
Speaking to Radio 1 news, Mr. Osei said, the Rawlings constitution which allows such activities to take place needs to be amended to sue the level of other civil servant organisations in the country. According to him, everybody can be President, Minister and an MP so when they have had such opportunity they shouldn’t do thing that will favour them only.
”The constitution is not good, Rawlings constitution is not favoring, why should a president, when going on retirement is entitle to four 4 cars two 2 houses and also with an undisclosed amount of money, and after every 4 years too, the cars are been changed for such President, are they more exceptional than other Ghanaian, ‘everybody can be a Minister, President and an MP as well, but we all cannot be President at the same time or one day, so once they have had the opportunity doesn’t mean they should do things that will favor only them.” he stressed.
