The Eastern Regional fire commander ACFO Joshua Nguah has entreated Ghanaians to avail themselves to be trained as community rescue volunteers squad. This is to enable them help fire service in emergencies cases.
This was his speech at an event organised by the Asuogyaman District Commander of the fire service on the Republic Day exhibition of fire equipments and road traffic regulation collision ( RTC) extrication exercise at Akosombo in the eastern region. It is aimed at educating and sensitizing drivers and the general public on the role of fire service.
He said the role played by the community during emergencies cannot be over emphasize, but he’s out has observed with a grave concern the unprofessional method adopted in extrication of accidents trapped victims.
ACFO Joshua Nguah reiterated that it has recorded 67 accidents and 49 deaths in the eastern region alone.

He said the figure is huge and alarming and it has empowered fire service to train and respond to road traffic accidents. He opined that with the synergy efforts from stake holders and benevolent organisations, the service can better be prepared to respond effectively and efficiently to emergency cases to engender public confidence.
Joshua finally advised the public that fire extinguisher is a first aid appliance which stops fire at its initial stages, so he urged all and sundry to owe one and make use of it when the need arises. He implored drivers to abide by rules and regulations at all time to make Ghana a safe place.
