A leading aspirant for the National Women’s Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP), Kate Gyamfuaa has charged Ghanaians not to lose faith in women’s leadership capabilities because of the unfortunate happenings in the Electoral Commission under the reign of Madam Charlotte Osei.

Kate Gyamfuaa described the recent scandals that have befallen the electoral body under the leadership of Mad. Charlotte Osei, as highly unfortunate adding that Ghanaians must not use it as a yardstick to judge the capability of Ghanaian women.

Unfolding events in the Electoral Commission have cast doubts over the leadership capacity of the Chairperson to steer the affairs of the Commission, having been engulfed in series of controversies since assuming office.

However, a leading aspirant for the National Women’s Organizer believes it will be unfair for anyone to draw definition conclusions considering the fact that other Ghanaian women in sensitive positions have excelled in their endeavours.

Mad. Kate Gyamfuaa mentioned for example the immediate past Chief Justice, Mrs. Theodore Georgina Woode, current Attorney General, Mrs. Sophia Akuffo, First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo ADDO and Second Lady, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, as some of the women in the country who have distinguished themselves in their various fields.

“It will not be fair for people to jump into conclusion that women are not capable of handling sensitive positions in the country simply because Mrs. Charlotte Osei, has failed to effectively steer affairs of the Commission. We have several good examples of Ghanaian women who have performed creditably well,” the incoming NPP National Women’s Organizer pointed out.

She therefore urged women in the country not to feel discouraged but continue to work hard and contribute their quota to the development of the country.
