Mtn foundation donates to Abuakwah Traditional council

The Mtn foundation of Ghana has donated an awesome amount of money, airtime and a drink hamper to the Akyem- Abuakwah traditional council towards the Ohum festival celebrations. The items includes Ghs1,000 worth of airtime, a drink hamper and an amount of Ghs10,000.00 was presented to the council.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony  at the traditional council, the commercial manager of Mtn in the Eastern, Volta and Greater Accra region, Mr David Gyimah Boadi said, the donation was to help the development at Kyebi and it environment and also to seek the blessing from Chiefs and Elders of the land upon their business operations at Kyebi and across the country.

He said, over the past 10years, Mtn has placed special importance on the things that matters to the people of Ghana, and prominent among these is the celebration of local festivals. Festivals reveal a lot about the Ghanaian society and are considered an integral part of Ghanaian culture. As a result Mtn has made it a duty to support many traditional authorities each year across the country and to keep alive the values and principles that identify us as Africans.

”As we all know, Mtn is an African company and we believe in African values and the African heritage, in line with our commitment to the festival we would like to present support the traditional council with the items provided, we hope our support in these areas would help make this celebration a memorable one.” he stated.

Mr. David Gyimah Boadi outline some social interventions Mtn have achieved through its foundation across the country. He said through the Mtn Ghana Foundation, they have improved access to healthcare and education and improved the economic livelihood of many by investing more than Ghs32.5million in over major project which are impacting the lives of more than four million Ghanaians.

”An example is the 50 seat ICT centre for University College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies at Bunso, Akropong school for the blind ICT centre, Akyem Boso Primary School ICT centre, Kwahu Mpraeso Methodist SHS etc, and Mtn will continue to give back to communities through the Mtn Ghana Foundation to make the lives of our customers a whole lot brighter.” he said.

He added that Mtn will look forward to memorable Ohum festival.

The queen mother of Akyem- Abuakwah traditional council Obaahemaa Nana Dokuaa acknowledged Mtn for their support towards the festival celebration and encourage other organisations, to emulate the steps of Mtn foundation Ghana.

She urged Mtn to be truthful to their customers.
