Dr Papa Kwesi Ndoum, 2016 Flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has kicked against the implementation of the mandatory towing levy.
According to him, there are existing laws that allow government to tow vehicles wrongfully parked on roads and charge a fee accordingly.
“So why assume that we will all engage in illegal parking and require towing and as a result make it mandatory for all vehicle owners to pay a road towing fee every year?” he questioned.
He said there could be some ulterior motive for the proposal and stated in a post on Thursday, August 3 that: “This smells badly. Chop chop for whom? At whose expense?”
The three-time presidential aspirant is calling on all Ghanaians and government to ensure that “those who flout the [existing] law pay and leave the rest alone”.
