Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin has alleged that, not all illegal mining activities known as ‘galamsey’ are done by Chinese nationals.
According to him, though some of the Chinese nationals are among the illegal mining operations in the country, but some too are legal miners in which they have obtain the necessary procedures, abiding to law and regulations as require by the small scale mining in which they are small scale miners which is legally accepted.
Speaking at a donation ceremony at Akyem Abuakwah Traditional council when the Chinese ambassador to Ghana H.E Madam Sun Baohong donated some necessities of livelihood to the people of Akyem Abuakwah in the Eastern region, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin said, President is not against mining activities or Chinese nationals in the mining industry.
But government is against illegal mining activities in the country and not only Chinese nationals are operating in the illegal mining activities, but both Chinese and Ghanaians are on the illegal mining field and they are those the government is fighting against.

”As you know, Ghana is a nation to be, normally we find some conflict with some of the Chinese miners, I don’t believe that all the illegal miners in Ghana are Chinese, but there are some who are legal miners and they are those we want to maintain. Those who operates illegally and Ghanaian illegal miners are those we are getting rid off to make sure they abide to the law.” he lamented.
