SHS student dies after attempted abortion

A nineteen-year-old female student of the Obrakyire Senior High Technical School in the Central region has died after she attempted to abort a seven-month-old pregnancy.
She died at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital where she had been sent for treatment after taking a medicine provided by her boyfriend. The boyfriend of the deceased who was arrested by the police has been granted bail as the police.

Awutu Breku Police Commander ASP Johnson Hessey who confirmed the incident to Starr News’ Central Regional correspondent, Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour said: “The father of the deceased who is an Assemblyman reported at the Police Station that the daughter who was seven months pregnant was sick and sent to the hospital and three days after she passed. He suspected the boyfriend to have given her some concoction to abort the pregnancy and so we picked him up”.
