Support Free SHS To Succeed-Deputy Minister

The Deputy Minister for Gender,Children and Social Protection and MP for Abuakwa North Constituency , Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo has appealed to all stakeholders in education to do their best to ensure that, the free Senior High School policy by the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo lead government succeed.

She was speaking at a ceremony to outdoor the newly installed chief of Akyem Osiem in the East Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana, Osabarima Agyei Mireku.

“Free SHS will be a flop if all stakeholders especially traditional rulers, parents, children and others refuse to do their part” she mentioned.

She therefore appealed to chiefs and parents to ensure that by-laws are made to keep all children of school going age off the streets at night to boost teaching and learning.

The Deputy Minister went on to advise the youth especially females to be weary of human traffickers since almost all who are trafficked to the gulf areas are subjected to inhuman treatment.

“Government has outlined policies such as LEAP, MASLOG, Cocoa Pollination etc. to create jobs and build the country’s human resource for Ghana to work again, so our youth especially the females must desist from the thirst to travel out to the gulf regions especially; Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lybia to seek greener pastures where there are none but subjected to maltreatment” she stated.
