A 45-year-old spiritual mallam accused of killing people for rituals at Gomoa Ankamu in the Central Region has been remanded by the Apam District Magistrate Court into prison custody.
Mallam Yaa Wudada was arrested on October 10 for allegedly killing people for rituals and for assaulting residents.
Prosecutors told the Magistrate, Annie Adabo, that angry residents of Gomoa Ankamu at the weekend demonstrated against the spiritual mallam leading to his arrest.
Led by Chief Inspector Joshua Otoo, the prosecution said they have commenced investigations into the case and needed more time to conclude, hence prayed the court to remand the accused person whose safety was at risk.

He said police intelligence on the ground suggest it would not be safe to grant the accused person bail as residents of the community were angry, something that prompted the magistrate to order for the mallam to be placed in prison remand.
The case has been adjourned to October 17.
