The recent brouhaha going on in Akyem Akrofufu in the Atiwa district and the allegations leveled against the assemblyman of the area Hon. Steven Kwaku Nyarko has raised eyebrows and have seen several Ghanaians talking about the saga which some of them have dared the assemblyman to come out boldly to comment on the allegations.

Speaking to Radio 1 news, Hon. Steven Kwaku Nyarko have come out to respond to the various allegations leveled against him. According to him he has no reason at all to take money from Chanfan operators and other miners at the expense of his community.

He alleged that those companies they are accusing him of taking money from have rather come to him with money to keep his mouth shut on their operations which he bluntly refused.

“They gave me an ambulance for free but I refused and paid them back with 30,000.00.” “By that time the Tipa trucks were already at work at Anyinam.”

According to the assemblyman he was never ready to agree to the Chanfan operator’s proposal. “Everyone in my district will bear me witness that I always destroy their machines, reported them to my assembly and got them arrested, they even went to the extent of bribing me with an amount of 40,000.00 to remain silent on their operations but I refused”. “I would have done worst than that but because of my position as an assembly man I had no option than to stay within my limitations.”

Meanwhile in a developing story, some opinion leaders and stakeholders have allegedly accused the assemblyman for collecting money from miners and chanfan operators and allowing them to work at the area. They also accused him of collecting money from jewel towers for them to build a telecommunication mast and has also sold the community Tipa truck without the knowledge of traditional authority and stake holders.
