After the Vice President outdoored the new ‘smart card’ for Drivers License and Vehicle Registration in Ghana yesterday, some drivers have expressed displeasure on the new system.

According to them, the system seem to be a very long process and will delay more than how it use to be, even though they agree it will curb the menace of the usage of fake licenses, fake road worthiness stickers, fake number plate which leads to security threat and massive revenue  shortfall to government, they also think concentration is only going to be on manual drivers than the automatic drivers.

Addressing these fears of drivers on Radio 1 breakfast show ”Susubribi”, the general secretary of Ghana road safety commission Mr. Andrews Kofi Kwakye explained that there is no much difference in it like the drivers are seeing it.

The only difference is that you can’t use the automatic  car experience to drive a manual car but the manual car driver can use his experience to drive a manual car and that is why this new method is going to help prevent a lot of road havoc’s.” he stated.

”The paperless revolution at the Drivers and Vehicular licensing Authority (DVLA) is a very nice notion and should be given the nod by all drivers, besides its going to relieve stress on drivers and prevent them from queuing up in renewing their license every year.” he advised.
