Since the Menace of Galamsey, community chiefs have been at the center of blame for giving out their lands to miners at the expense of their resident’s well-being and that of their generations to come.
Correcting this impression by Ghanaian Hon. Oteng Boateng explained that even though the picture seems to be like that, there is a reason for everything they do and it’s all for the benefits of their communities.
According to him, when you take Anyinam for instance which is within his domain, they were in deer need of a public toilet which no one was ready to help but these miners came into the community and took it upon themselves as part of their co-operate social responsibilities and provided them money to build one and drilled a bore hole as well.
“We want development and these people were ready to help, besides every work in this world have its side effect” he lamented.

He was speaking on Radio 1 evening program, ”Our Land Our Future” with host Wofa Kwabena Atuah on Tuesday 7th November, 2017.
”Not to forget about the quick intervention by these same miners to build a bungalow for them but by the ‘STOP WORK’ order from the government could not complete the project.” he added.
