The Fulani’s Are Of A Great Resource For The Country-Agric Minister.

The minister of Agriculture,Dr. Afriyie Akoto, on Tuesday 25th June 2018, at the meet the Press, organised under the ministry of information,let the cat out of the bag and said, theFulani’s are a great resource for the country and the country  in turn, a great resource to them.

He enumerated a lot of benefits Ghana gets from the Fulani’s with respect to cattle rearing in the country. We get milk, meat and a whole lot of benefits. Dr. Afriyie Akoto also said the Presidency and the hierarchy of the Fulani’s have met to discuss the way forward following the inauguration of the Ghana Cattle Ranching Project Committee in July, 2017. The have been gross sensitization among the Fulani’s in respect to living peacefully among Ghanaians.

Again, he talked of the fodder banks in Kwahu Afram Plains where two weeks from today, he would call on the President to inaugurate the fodder banks to pave way for the Fulani’s to regulate how to feed their cattle not at the detriment of causing harm to indigenous Ghanaians. The whole issues of cattle rearing and the Fulani’s is the mode of feeding the cattle. These cattle move from one farm to another eating all they see, destroying all they come across and the herdsmen also inflicting terrible assaults on the farmers.

Fulani’s and cattle rearing in the country since 2002, under the leadership of ex-president John Agyekum Kuffour, have been thorns in the citizens flesh especially farmers.That not withstanding one can not over look the recent happenings which involved the killing of some security personnel sent there to protect Ghanaian citizens.Clashes between citizens and these Fulani’s have always result in brutal killings and wailings.

However, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr Afriyie reiterated the intervention of government to help live in harmony with them through the sensitization programs.
