The Member of Parliament for Yilo Krobo constituency in the Estern Region, on the ticket of National Democratic Congress, Hon. Lawyer Magnus Kofi Amoatey confirmed speculations that he will not contest the parliamentary seat again in the 2020 polls to host of Bekyeremu political show on Radio, Owuraku Asamoah.
Lawyer Amoatey, Member of Parliament for Yilo Krobo, who doubles as a member of the Parliamentary select Committee on legal affairs is one of the longest serving parliamentarians in Ghana.
As to the reasons behind his decision, he said it is personal. He made this clarification when the host asked of his fate since the Gender minister was in the pipeline of declaring her intension to contest the seat any time soon.
That notwithstanding, he still remains a true NDC member and he is ready to support anyone who wins the parliamentary primaries to help retake the mantle from the NPP.

For now, he together with Alhaji Inussah Fuseni, have openly declared their decisions to retire from Parliamentary duties. The Yilo Krobo seat has been a traditional seat for the NDC and he believes though he will not contest, the NPP cannot snatch the seat.
