The Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees Association (GNMTA), will on Wednesday September 5, 2018 embark on a nationwide demostration to register their displeasure towards the government’s perpetual and delibrate delay for the release of their financial Clearance to effect their Bonding, Posting and to sort out the Nurses unemployment menace.

The call is to involve Unposted Nurses and Midwives (Bonded or Not), Student Nurses and Midwives at home and at School, Nurses and Midwives On Rotation and staff Nurses and Midwives in their agitations.

The demonstration which is said to take place in all the zones in the country would be one of the demonstrations within the year and it is to seek immediate response from Government as to exactly when their clearance will be out.

In an interview with the GNMTA National Secretary for Education and Registration, Osman Christopher Kwame, he told Radio 1 News that it has been a habitual language of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, since March 2018, when they were promised their financial clearance in mid July. July came and gone, “no show”.

Just last four days, the health minister, Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu (Hon.), said the health ministry is awaiting clearance from the Finance ministry and if all things be equal, September or probably early October, they will be posted.

Mr Manu explained that the ministry has not posted nurses who have completed their training because of financial constraints.

However, the Finance Ministry has assured them of giving them the financial clearance to recruit nurses in due time.

It is based on this and other factors that Master Osman and his Colleagues, demand urgent clarification from the government to come out decisively and not to leave them in suspense.
