Nana Akosua Buor Gyankromaa, the leader of the granddaughters of the late “Amantiremanmienu” Nana Ofori Atta I, has revealed that her grandfather Nana Ofori Atta I, left a great Legacy for the generation of which the current generation are benefiting .
In a studio interview at Radio 1 FM, 100.7, on its Mid-Morning Show, Hosted by Nana Yaa Agyapomaa, on thursday 16th August 2018, Nana Gyankromaa said as part of the 75th year commemoration of the late Ofori Atta I, they have enumerated series of achievements of the late chief and how he rose to become a philanthropist. The program is said to commence on Friday, 17th August 2018 and end on 26th August 2018.


She said the late Chief had an ambition of becoming a lawyer so he was learning as a clerk though his father wanted him to be a clergyman. Later he abandoned the law and rose to become the Chief of the Akyem Abuakwa state.
His contribution in the nation’s development was immense; he solely sourced the building of Abuakwa State College, He helped to build the Kyebi Hospital, H contribution cannot be forgotten in the Building of Kyebi Trade School. He was a member of the legislative Council the now Parliament.
According to Nana Gyankromaa, the late Chief had a cordial relations with the then Governor of Ghana, Sir Gordon Guggisberg and played integral role in building the Korlebu Teaching Hospital. He also cannot forgotten in the history of the builing of Achimota School. He bought airplane and named it Abuakwah Plane for the Europeans to help combat the 1st world war.
His contribution also stretched to the empowerment of women to the extent of having the First female Doctor in Ghana as his daughter. One of his Daughters also became a librarian in west Africa.
Nana Gyankromaa revealed that her grandfather became King at age 31 and ruled for 31 years from 1912 – 1943. As part of the celebration, a sod will be cut for full operation of a high court at Kyebi. Below is the program Schedules;
Friday, August 17th, 2018; Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Okyenhene, with all citizens of Akyem Abuakwa will be in Black Cloth to mourn his grandfather whose legacy has gained recognition of the people of Akyem Abuakwa and beyond.
On Monday, August 20th 2018, Okyeman Kanea, Professor Robert Yaw Addo Fening, will lead a memorial lecture of Amantiremanmienu, Nana Ofori Atta I at Accra International Conference Center, 5:30pm prompt. On the same day, President of the Republic, H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo will relaunch Akyem Abuakwa 1700 – 1943 book, titled Nana Ofori Atta I from Ofori Panin to Sir Ofori Atta and opening of exhibition will be done by Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Okyenhene.

 

Wednesday August 22nd, 2018, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua, Okyenhemaa will also host  women’s meeting at Ofori Panin Fie, Kyebi, 10am and there will be unveiling of exhibition by Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin at Ofori Panin Fie, Kyebi by 4:30pm. Amantiremanmienu, Nana Ofori Atta I’s documentary will be premier at 6pm, Ofori Panin Fie, kyebi.

The grand durbar is slated for Thursday August 23rd, 2018 at Eseho, Kyebi, where Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will join Asona Piesie, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin to climax the Okyeman Hero, his grandfather Nana Ofori Atta I.
Friday August 24th, 2018, there will be a dedication and donation of the Amantiremanmienu, Nana Ofori Atta, Okyenhene High Court Complex at Kyebi and Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo, Chief Justice will be the special guest. On the same day, there will be a Susu Biribi Gospel Rock Show at 7pm, Eseho-kyebi.

There will be a guided tour of exhibition at Ofori Panin Fie, Kyebi and at 2pm there will be a soccer tournament and after which the Susu Biribi Highlife and Hiplife concert take over at 8pm, Eseho – Kyebi.
The 75th anniversary celebration of Amantiremanmienu, Nana Ofori Atta I will end on Sunday August 26th, 2018, with Thanksgiving and Intercession service at Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Ebenezer Congregation, Obroni Krom, kyebi at 9am prompt.
She therefore urged all to be part of the celebration.
