President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has re-assured Ghanaians that the country will not go back on the double-track system for the free Senior High School (SHS) programme to be implemented next month.
The President jokingly booed at his doomsayers while addressing the people of Akrofuom, where he had gone to cut the sod for the construction of a 19.5 kilometre Wioso-Mpasaaso road, aspart of his five-day working visit to the Ashanti Region “Hoooh! Hoooh!” these were the booing sounds President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo sent to his detractors.
“We are not going to go back on that, not today, not tomorrow! So,whenever the professional naysayers come to spread their lies, hoot at them, and do not give them an audience,”
President Akufo-Addo told the crowd which responded with deafening cheers.

“We are going to make sure it is a success. So, I am pleading with you, please ignore the Pharisees and stickwith me. It [double -track system] will be a success.” he said with courage and determination.
“The logical thing for them [naysayers] was for each person to pay for their education.
Ghanaians chose to believe in me, and the free SHS vision by the vote of December 7.
Ghanaians indicated that they wanted free SHS; that was the meaning of the emphatic vote I received in
December 2016″, he emphasised.
He added that the programme had been successfully tried and tested in other parts of the world, and not too distant Kenya, and that there was no justification that it could not happen in Ghana.
“Every child of school age in Ghana will have the opportunity to go to school up to the senior high school level and I intend to keep that pledge,” he stated.
The President reiterated that there had been adequate consultations for the effective running of the double-track system, and assured all well-meaning Ghanaians that they would bear living testimonies to the success story.
“I will never present anything that is not worth it to the Ghanaian people.
The double track system would ensure longer contact hours, teachers will have longer periods of interaction with the students, and enrolment will increase”,he declared.
