A vociferous private Legal Practitioner and Historian, Captain Retired Nkrabea Effah-Dartey believes Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first Prime Minister and President is not the founder of Ghana as has been widely imparted into generations from time immemorial.
According to the Lawyer, it is undeniable fact that Dr Kwame Nkrumah contributed immensely in Ghana’s fight for independence, he didn’t found Ghana rather he found the Convention People’s Party, CPP.
Captain Retired Nkrabea Effah-Dartey, made these assertions on the Susubiribi Morning Show on Radio1FM, 100.7MHZ on Friday 21st September 2018, when giving his opinion on whether Ghana must have Founder’s day or Founders’ Day celebration.
He said before Nkrumah, upon request from the then United Gold Coast Convention, UGCC, to come to Ghana, the fight for Independence was already initiated.

Last year the President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, proposed that the big Six ought to be celebrated on August 4 as Founders’ Day because they all contributed in the gaining of independence. This has been a global debate as people assume the President is in the making of distorting History, especially the members of CPP who believe attainment of Independence was based on Nkrumah’s own ideology and needs to remain undebated fact.
However, Captain Nkrabea Effah-Dartey believes with time Ghanaians would buy into his submissions and founder’s Day would eventually be changed into Founders’Day.
