The Chief of Akyem Nsutam of the Fanteakwa South District in the Eastern region of Ghana, Osabarima Baafi Sarpong Kumakuma, on Monday September 10, 2018 went wild on illegal Miners in the area particularly one Zakari, a leader of the illegal Miners, who has maneuvered to divert the path of the ‘Supong River’, one of the major Rivers in the area to pave way for him to mine inside the original path of the river.
The Chief Summoned all his sub-Chiefs, the Operation Vanguards and the media to converge at his palace and deliberate on the matter to find a lasting solution to that canker.
According to the Chief, the traditional Priest of Akyem Nsutam has warned them that if they don’t stop diverting the path of Supong River, there would be rampant killing of the youth from Nsutam, the future of the town would be truncated.
Osabarima expressed his disappointment in Zakari, who is a native of the town and said he should have thought better.

In an interview with Osabarima Baafi Sarpong Kumakuma, he told Radio 1 News that, day in day out, he got series of complaints from several Residents that Illegal Miners have diverted the path of Supong River to enable them mine in the original Supong path where they presume there are plenty of minerals, Gold in particular. Upon their investigation, one Zakari popped up as the architect behind the menace so he was also invited to be quizzed on why he chose to abandon the government’s order to rather go wayward.
His execuses and explanations could not convince the Chief, Elders, Residents and his family so Osabarima demanded to visit the site himself.
The deplorable state got him so furious and pledged to deal with him so as not to incur the wrath of the gods, then after, hand him over to the government for any legal action to be taken against him. Other elders of the land also urged the Chief to treat Zakari with all the contempt he deserves because they are not ready to incur the wrath of the gods.
However, operation Vanguard took over the site and also promised the Chief they would definitely get to the bottom of the menace.
