Popular gospel show host on Adom FM and Adom TV, Kwamena Idan has instructed Big Event Ghana

Organizers of the annual RTP awards to take his name out of the nomination list. Kwamena Idan has explained that, as a staunch Christian, he can never endorse Adonko Bitters.

Both last year and this year’s RTP Awards is sponsored by the alcoholic beverage, Adonko Bitters and that is something Kwamena Idan has explained he can never be part of.

According to the popular gospel show host who is also a reverend minister, participating in such even will mean he is endorsing the alcoholic beverage indirectly and he doesn’t want to make that mistake.

Kwamena Idan revealed that he was not informed when he was nominated for the Radio Gospel Show Host of the Year category along with O.B Nartey of Vision 1 FM, Frank Kwabena Owusu (Franky5) of Hitz FM, Kojo Oppong Adjei of Sunny FM, Jeshurun Okyere of LIve FM and Agyemang Boateng of Kasapa FM or else he would have rejected it.

“From where I stand, my religious ethics will not allow me to be part of Adonko RTP Awards. I want to make it open that I’m not interested in Adonko RTP Awards. The organizers must respect my brand and my integrity. You cannot just nominate me and make money off it,” Kwame said on Accra-based Radio Universe.

He, however, added that if in the future the sponsor changes he will be glad to be nominated for the annual RTP Awards.

Reacting to Kwamena Idan’s statement on the same show, the CEO of Big Events, Prince Mackay stated that he finds Kwamena Idan as a hypocrite. He explained that last year the same Adonko Bitters was the sponsor of the event yet Kwamena Idan participated so he wonders why he is changing his stance now.

“The program is not being organised by Adonko but by Big Event Ghana so this is the biggest hypocrisy I can ever think of,” Prince Mackay told Zionfelix on the Brunch2Lunch entertainment show.
