KNUST To Re-Open In Two Weeks Time – Deputy Education Minister

The Deputy Education Minister,  Dr Yaw Adutwum has revealed that Students of  Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, would go back to school in the next 14 days.

According to Hon. Dr. Adutwum, Government has inaugurated a an interim Council Board to see to resolving the misunderstanding between the student body and the school authority. He said the new inaugurated body is given 3 months to come out with the resolve of the rampage.

Information available to radio 1 news says, the vandalism that occurred was so high that the need more time to get to the roots of the menace and thus giving the body 3 months to work.

This means the old University Council Board headed by Prof. Obiri Danso is dissolved. According to the Minister, as to whether prof. Obiri Danso would Get back to work as the Vice Chancellor of KNUST is solely dependent on the Committee.

However, he said though the Public Universities are autonomous in their jurisdictions, the are not to take the laws into their hands and destroy state properties.

Government’s intervention is to calm nerves at KNUST and ensure progress in academics in the shortest possible time.

Students of KNUST took to the Campus streets to register their grievances towards the school’s management body and eventually resulted in vandalism and destroying properties of the state and that belonging to the members of the Board.
