Mr Ridwan Alhassan Issah, the Press Secretary to the Agric Minister, Hon. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has urged Ghanaians and all sympathizers of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, to consider the numerous allegations making round that the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has released GHC 1 million to renovate the able Agric Minister’s resident as palpable lies, unsubstantiated, baseless workouts, as attempts by the minority in parliament, particularly the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, to dent the image of the hard working minister.

According to Mr Ridwan Alhassan, the minister has not made any request neither has COCOBOD made any provisions for GHC1 million to renovate his house. He said if COCOBOD is doing renovation, they have the right because the residence is their own property and there are other officials staying there.

He set the air clear on Radio1FM on a program called ‘the issues’ on Saturday October 6 2018. He also said the minister even though is entitled to a resident by the government but the minister declined the offer and as the time he was granting the interview, the minister stays in his own personal residence, meaning the story is not factual and must be treated with the immediate contempt due it.

This was in a response to the allegations set by the minority and led by the minority spokesperson on finance, Cassel Ato Forson, who told the press that Parliament is about summoning the Agric Minister to be interrogated on why he has used the money meant for the farmers for his own comfort; thus renovating his residence.

The secretary concluded that if truly the NDC have proofs to authenticate their allegations, they must proceed to the necessary institutions mandated to take legal action on such actions of the able Minister and the COCOBOD.
