E/R: Osiem and Akyem Old Tafo Get Free Health Screening

The LovingHearts Geriatric Care International, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in partnership with Sugardem Ministries and other supporting institutions came together to organize a free medical outreach yesterday to the people of Osiem and Old Tafo respectively in the Eastern Region.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LovingHearts G.C. International, Dr. Evans Aboagye in an interview on Radio1 100.7 News disclosed that the brain behind for organizing the event was to give back to their communities the knowledge they have acquired, that is doing it for the good of all, especially the aged and the vulnerable ones as part of their social and corporate responsibility.
Dr. Aboagye noted that it was not only free medical screening that they gave but also gave medical advices to the beneficiaries on going for regular health check up to help live longer and free health tips on HIV by getting tested from to know their status as HIV Day approaches as well free medicine.
Osisiogu .U. Emmanuel, Head of Diagnostic Lab LHI of the LovingHearts G.C. International said because most of the aged and the vulnerable fall sick before they visit the hospital, they decided to bring free medical healthcare to the door step these communities to see their basic needs. He added that their service is not for only one community but for the people of Ghana, Africa and beyond.

A General Practitioner and a Publicity member of the NGO, Dr Williams .A.A. Millicent stated that LovingHearts G.C. International’s main concern is to always go for free medical outreaches in the rural and urban areas to give voluntary healthcare and free health advice to the inhabitant these communities, especially the aged that is why these event was organized at Osiem and Old Tafo. She added that they were also there to give physical, mental and emotional wellbeing to the aged since health doesn’t have to always be with infirmity of disease
‘Tomorrow 1st December, 2018 being the date to mark the International Aids Day we are here to also here to educate them how to get protected, getting to their status and promote good healthy lifestyle’ ‘she added.Dr. Millicent expressed that her advice to the general public especially the old, is that people who don’t want to know their status because fear of should go for test to know their status because there are Anti-Retroviral (ARV) drug to help manage for healthier and longer life as well as help make decisions on protecting themselves and their partners from further infections or even repeated infections.
She said she was impressed by the turn out of the people of the two communities, especially the aged for the medical outreach.
