Gender Minister Organises Road Safety Education For Her Constituents

The member of parliament MP for Abuakwa north constituency who doubles as the deputy minister for gender, children and social protection, Hon Mrs Gifty Twum Ampofo in collaboration with the DVLA, Road safety commission, MTTD of Ghana police service organized a one day road safety talk with drivers in the Abuakwa north municipality.

The program was held on the December 15, 2018 at Akyem New Tafo lorry station.

Speaking at the forum, Mrs Gifty Twum made it known to the drivers that, a good driver is not someone who can use a short time to reach his destination but someone who has work for so many years without an accident.

According to her, drivers in the country especially those in her constituency must know that, sitting at the back of the steer does not mean that they can drive anyhow without listening to the passengers.

‘’At that moment, you owed the lives of the passengers, and they have paid you not to kill or injure them but rather to reach their homes safely’’.

Furthermore, in this festive season, they must avoid reckless driving, overtaking, over speeding, avoid the intake of alcohol, etc. so that we all can enjoy the season to the end without any accident. At the forum, there were dignitaries like, the eastern regional police commander, chief superintendent Isaac Obeng Dompereh, coordinating director of Abuakwa north municipal, Mr. Jerry Amoafo, DVLA  boss in the eastern region, Eric Addison, and road safety commission boss in the eastern region Mr Abdulai Bawa Ghamsa.
