The Communication Director for the Abuakwa South Constituency in Eastern Region on the ticket of the Ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, Nana Kwasi Bediatuo has urged the leaders of the Country to use this farmers day celebration as an avenue to educate, advise and encourage the youth to engage in farming since the youth of today have rejected farming.

Nana Kwasi Bediatuo said these on the Susubiribi Morning Show on Radio 1FM, 100.7MHZ, when Nana Kwabena Addo asked of his views on the 34th Framers day celebration.

According to him, the youth are the backbone of the nation and the future of the nation and if they don’t get the zeal in engaging farming, in some years to come, farming will collapse. He said not only the weeding and crop production are farming. The youth must also engage in animal rearing and fish farming that will promote Agriculture and eventually sustain it.

According to him the leaders must rebrand farming in a way that the youth with joyful hearts without being forced go into farming to make ends meet. He added that that will reduce poverty and the unemployment rate in Ghana.
