A member of the Eastern region communication team for the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, who doubles as the communication member for the same party for Abuakwa South constituency, Nana Krofa is very surprised why there is this notion among the Ghanaian populace which downplays Ghana foods.
He said the misconception the citizens have with regards to the quality of Ghana goods specifically foods is highly unbearable in that these misconceptions have sank into the brains of the indegenes which has therefore increased low patronage of locally produced foods especially with rice and tomatoes.
Speaking on the Susubiribi morning Show on the Farmers day on Thursday, December 7, 2018, the vociferous speaker who toned down due to what he felt the farmers are not getting good returns from their farm produce, he told the host, Nana Kwabena Addo that seeing how the farmers suffer but at the end of the year’s harvesting their returns are not worth their suffer, then it’s time Ghanaians cleared the irrelevant notion on locally produced foods.
He added that the low patronage of the foods might also be due to high cost of the food items compared to the imported or the foreign foods. He was then quick to again add that farmers must find ways of subsidizing the prices of farm produce so the ordinary people can afford.
