The founder and leader of the United Front Party, UFP, Dr Nana Agyenim Boateng who is popularly known in Ghana politics as Gyataba has said there is no sense in the electoral commission’s decision in reverting it’s logo.
According to him, the stakeholders of elections in Ghana are the political parties and none of them was consulted except perhaps the ruling New Patriotic Party so that decision is senseless.
Gyataba made this known to Owurakou Asamoah, host of BEKYEREMU, a political show on Radio 1FM, 100.7MHZ when he was asked his opinion on the decision to revert the logo.
He said during Charlotte Osei’s era as the Commissioner, he recalls that the stakeholders; the Political parties had a round table meeting in Alisa hotel to deliberate on why she intends changing the logo. According to him, Charlotte justified that since the Electoral Commission is an independent body using coat of arms logo is symbolic that it’s not independent. He cited University of Ghana as a state institution yet its logo has no emblem of the nation.

However, Gyataba believes the new EC boss Jean Mensah looks down on the opposition parties particularly the small ones but Mr Kofi Akpaloo refuted those claims and said Charlotte only called them to inform them after she was done changing the logo though he thinks reverting the logo is not a priority now.
The new EC boss is reverting the logo of the commission that was changed by the former EC boss Charlotte Osei because she believes that of Charlotte doesn’t symbolically reflect the responsibilities of the commission.
