It also called on the general public to be circumspect with how they go about the matter and respect the privacy of the family to mourn their deceased relative.

The opening of the book of condolence follows an earlier initiative by the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority to reward anyone who provides vital information concerning the incident with GHC50,000.

Below is the detail of the press release by the GPHA

THE UNFORTUNATE DEATH OF MRS JOSEPHINE ASANTE- MARKETING AND PR MANAGER FOR PORT OF TEMA

On Sunday. 13th January. 2019. the GPHA family woke up to a terrible and heart-wrenching news that our Marketing and PR Manager for the Port of Tema had been murdered in cold blood in her home after returning from a party organized for senior and management staff at the GPHA Towers. Mrs. Josephine Asante worked diligently and rose through the ranks to become a manager after joining the Authority fifteen (15) years ago.

The Board is still in shock as to what precipitated the attack on this precious and defenseless human being who was at the prime of her life in her own home.

Out of pain and respect for her immediate family. we would like to focus our attention on the investigation by assisting the police in whatever way we could because we believe our greatest satisfaction will come from unraveling the circumstances surrounding her unfortunate demise and the perpetrators made to answer for their unconscionable act through the law courts of the country.

Whiles working to achieve this goal behind the scenes. we are constantly being bombarded with very disturbing stories emanating from the media landscape and some members of the public during radio discussions which leave us mortified and saddened.

GPHA has already offered a GHCSO, OOO.OO bounty for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator(s) of this horrendous crime.

We appreciate the public interest in this case but at the same time, we would like to appeal to the public to exercise restraint and rather volunteer any information they may have about this case, no matter how insignificant it may seem to the police.

Naturally, with the loss of a very hardworking staff like Josephine, Morale is bound to be low but we are encouraged by the enormous support from our friends within the Port community and outside at this difficult time. To that, we are immeasurably grateful and we urge you to continue to remember Josephine’s family in prayers.

The Board and Management would like to take this opportunity to assure all Staff, members of the Port community and indeed, the general public that it will leave no stone unturned in helping the police to bring this unconscionable death of Josephine to a successful closure.

As part of Josephine’s one-week remembrance observation, the Board and Management have directed that a book of condolence be opened at the Head office starting from Wednesday, 23rd to Thursday, 31st January 2019.

Once again, we ask the public to respect and allow Josephine’s family to mourn her in peace whiles the mandated law enforcement agencies carry on with their work.
